Thanks for checking out the Straight 8s website. The Straight 8s have been delivering their combustible blend of high-octane rock-a-billy music for over a decade. Based in Hillsborough, NC, the band has performed countless shows throughout the Southeast, birthplace of our beloved rock-a-billy.
Continuously in demand, the Straight 8s captivate audiences with their exceptional musicianship and dynamic stage presence. The band has released two full-length records and has been featured on several compilations.
In addition to performing at regional top-tier music venues, festivals, restaurants, honky-tonks, and private engagements, the Straight 8s traveled to Seattle, WA to “Shake the Shack” in 2005. Their music has also been featured on radio programs in the US, Canada, UK, and the Netherlands.
“Not since the Stray Cats ruled the boards in the early 80s has a group seemed so determined and dedicated to its own unique vision... the Straight 8s approach the rockabilly altar with genuine musical chops and a flair for testifying on behalf of this sturdy American genre.”
- Jeremey Haden, Cleveland Country Magazine

The Straight 8s make their roadhouse debut July 9, and we'd love catch up with friends between sets and afterwards. There is a modest $8 cover for this show, but the swanky and comfortable venue is well-worth the price (and I hear the band is pretty good too).
The City Tap does not have a TV, but it does have 10+ beers on-tap (mostly NC microbrews) and many others in bottles. There is always a fun and enthusiastic crowd at these shows, so bring yourself and some friends and add to the mix.
The Straight 8s are honored to be playing a show at the famed Continental Club on South Congress St. in Austin TX. This venus has been a hot-spot for swing, rock-a-billy, country and rock since 1957.
Our good friends Jill and Eric H. rocked-out with us at Brightleaf Square in Durham, NC on June 4th. Jill had her trusty camera rig and snapped some photos as the evening unfolded. Click on any of the photos to check out the entire album. Thanks, Jill!!
